For year-round training and a fully interactive indoor cycling experience, the Tacx Flow Smart trainer offers everything you need. Its wheel-on design allows for easy setup and storage. It even connects to your favourite apps, such as Zwift, Tacx and TrainerRoad.

Train with confidence

Flow Smart is designed to provide reliable, accurate and consistent speed, power and cadence measurements without the need for external sensors.

Powerfully built

Though Flow Smart has a compact flywheel, it's able to replicate a mass inertial effect of 11.8 kg, giving you the feel of riding outdoors. It is able to realistically simulate inclines up to a 6% gradient.

Made to last

No matter how intense your workout, this bike trainer is stable and built to last. It securely locks your bike into place with two easy clicks, so you can ride hard and know you're not going anywhere. The Flow Smart trainer also features a single roll made from a hardened steel sleeve to prevent wear.

Smooth and silent

Featuring a compact 1.6 kg flywheel and a roll core with soft plastic to absorb vibrations, Flow Smart is one of the most silent flywheel-equipped bike trainers available.

Fully connected

The trainer is compatible with a number of popular training apps. So, whether you want to take on the virtual worlds of Zwift or utilise other platforms such as Strava and TrainerRoad, this bike trainer lets you ride smarter than ever before.

Train your way

Flow Smart harnesses the innovative power of Tacx indoor training software. Start by taking advantage of efficiently structured training plans, designed for your fitness level to help you meet your unique goals. Enjoy your time in the saddle even more with a library of high-quality training films that lets you experience the rush of riding the steep hills of the Alps or the cobblestone roads of Milan. Race against live opponents and virtual training partners, link your Strava account to ride on 3-D maps, and even create your own workouts based on slope, power, heart rate or FTP. You can also choose to use your bike trainer without any software. When you do, it follows a progressive power curve. The resistance will increase progressively when you ride faster, simulating riding on a flat road.

  • Comments - Overall: As far as home trainers go, this is one of them that just simply does what it says on the tin. Assembly would be a tat easier if you had 3 hands and no dexterity issues, but evolution does not keep up, does it. After assembly, download the tacx app and calibrate the Flow. Once that is done, you need to be aware that there is only one device allowed to pair with the Flow at any one time, so if you're training off of a laptop and your phone is in your pocket, you may not see what you expect. After that, you get your favorite masochism software and off you go ;-) Fit: The product is not fit. I am not fit. It doesn't fit me (I cannot wear it). It fits in the room, and I have a view on the forest when I train, so that's all good. Quality: Well, it's a Tacx, so the quality is there. Yes, it's an entry level home trainer, but it is still well-built, sturdy, and solid. When it rests on the floor, it rests on the floor... The only way to get it to move, is if you are half on the bike, and half off the bike, trying to put the center of gravity way outside of the vertical place of the normal you-on-your-bike-hooked-to-the-trainer combination... Value for Money: Well... COVID and all that... No... I mean, I paid close to £300 for this thing, But during times of COVID that is what it is... OK, so Garmin messed up the sales channels (to a point where you cannot get Tacx stuff off the Garmin website), and that might drive the price up a bit as well... Lastly, there is this thing called Brexit that made me having to pay excise and duty on import into the Republic of Ireland. All in all, it was my choice to get it, knowing all these things, because: The last meaningful bit of cycling I did was the 2013 London-2-Paris tour, and I am struggling with age and fitness... I *know* (from experience) having a home trainer is much more efficient than training on the road because the 1 hour on the home trainer is 1 hour spent cycling. Using software like TrainerRoad / Zwift that hour is structured to suit your fitness level and to build your fitness to a higher capability. You don't have to be conscious of traffic, bends, curves, traffic lights, pedestrians, pesky cars... You spend the full hour cycling. And that is much much better than what you can do on the road. Swinnerton Cycles: So, I ordered this thing via the reminder email that I received early in the morning on a Wednesday. That very Friday, Flow was at my home in Ireland. Import problems, DHL delivery, Excise & Duty, it all happened so fast ;-) Thank you guys and girls! My Review: Well, I've been at it for 2 weeks, Tu Th and Sa, and my fitness has greatly improved already. I use TrainerRoad. I can nearly do "Ericsson -1" with an FTP of 152. When I started on 6 Feb 2021 with the one hour "20 Minute FTP Test", I lasted all of 15 minutes; that's just the warm-up... Now, I completed the Ramp Test (Sweet Spot Base - Low Volume) and I am getting to grips with "Ericsson -1" which is an hour... I can do 47 - 48 minutes, so really an "Ericsson -2". And that's after not doing *anything* at all for about 7 months, except sit at home, drink beer, eat crisps and be generally unhealthy.... So yes, this thing works ;-) Get it! That's a command!
