The ABUS Smiley 3.0 LED is a children's cycling helmet designed for balance bikes, tricycles, and first bicycles — the early riding stages where a well-fitting, comfortable helmet is essential for building the habit of wearing one. The revised outer shell features a deep fit with a visor-like front edge that provides extra coverage around the head compared to shallower helmet profiles, giving parents more confidence in the level of protection. Available in S (45–50cm) and M (50–55cm) in two colourways: Rose Strawberry and Blue Car.
The fit system is height- and width-adjustable via a dial at the rear, allowing the helmet to be dialled in precisely to the child's head shape and to accommodate growth over time. The adjustment wheel is positioned to leave room for a ponytail, avoiding the discomfort that can put children off wearing their helmet. A thick, padded chin strap adds comfort for longer wear. The integrated LED element at the rear increases visibility in lower light conditions — useful for early morning or late afternoon rides. How do I choose the right size?
Measure your child's head circumference at the widest point (approximately 2cm above the eyebrows). S fits 45–50cm and M fits 50–55cm. If your child is between sizes or close to the top of a size range, size up — the adjustable fit system can be tightened to accommodate smaller heads within the range, but cannot extend beyond the maximum.
Is the fit system easy for children to adjust themselves?
The rear dial is straightforward to turn and is designed to be used by parents to set the fit before riding. The ponytail-friendly positioning means the wheel doesn't press uncomfortably against the back of the head, which is a common reason children resist wearing helmets with poorly positioned adjustment systems.
How bright is the integrated LED?
The rear LED is designed to increase visibility in lower light conditions such as early morning or late afternoon rides — it is a visibility aid rather than a primary lighting source. It runs on a small battery and can be switched on independently of the helmet's other features.
When should I replace the helmet?
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even if there is no visible damage — the foam liner absorbs impact energy and may be compromised without showing external signs. Also replace when your child outgrows the size range, or after 3–5 years of regular use as materials degrade over time.

In some cases, we may ship items out with another courier, depending on the status and availability of items ordered. (Customers will not be charged more and will be refunded any unused postage cost) If part of an order is cancelled and the total drops below the £50.00 free postage, a postage charge may be taken.
Delivery costs will be clearly stated on the checkout page, though you will need to register (to provide your delivery address) in order to see the delivery costs.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
