The Bryton Rider 650 is the step up from the Rider 550 — adding a touchscreen interface, preloaded OpenStreetMap (OSM) maps with turn-by-turn navigation, and multiple bike profiles in the same 2.8-inch colour display format. Available as a Device Only or as a Sensor Bundle including a Smart Speed Sensor, Cadence Sensor, and Heart Rate Monitor, it's a capable mid-to-upper range cycling computer for road, gravel, MTB, and indoor training use. Battery life is up to 33 hours, with an ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment.
The key upgrade over the Rider 550 is the touchscreen and built-in OSM maps — the Rider 650 shows street names, points of interest, peaks, distances, and turn-by-turn directions without needing to import routes from an app first. Climb Challenge automatically generates colour-coded gradient profiles, remaining distance, and elevation data for each climb on your route after importing via the Bryton Active App. A customisable function key provides one-press access to maps, notifications, or activity saving. For training, the Rider 650 syncs with TrainingPeaks for structured workout execution and connects to ANT+ FE-C smart trainers for resistance control and power-based indoor sessions. It's compatible with the Bryton Gardia 300L radar for on-screen vehicle alerts, and supports Shimano Steps and ANT+ LEV e-bike platforms for assist level, battery status, and gear position monitoring. Live Track and Group Ride features share your location in real time via the Bryton Active App.
Browse the full Bryton range or our computers and GPS collection. For a button-operated computer without a touchscreen at a lower price point, see the Bryton Rider 550.
What is the difference between the Rider 650 and the Rider 550?
The key differences are the touchscreen interface, built-in OSM maps, and multiple bike profiles on the Rider 650. The Rider 550 uses physical buttons, has a slightly longer battery life (37hr vs 33hr), and relies on app-based route planning without preloaded maps. Choose the Rider 550 if you prefer buttons and don't need built-in maps; choose the Rider 650 if you want a touchscreen and on-device navigation.
Does it have preloaded maps for offline navigation?
Yes — the Rider 650 includes preloaded OpenStreetMap (OSM) maps with turn-by-turn navigation, showing street names, points of interest, peaks, and distances. This means you can navigate without importing a route from the app first, though importing routes via the Bryton Active App unlocks additional features like Climb Challenge.
Is it compatible with the Bryton Gardia radar?
Yes — the Rider 650 is compatible with the Bryton Gardia 300L Rear Light & Radar, displaying approaching vehicle alerts on the touchscreen so you can monitor traffic without looking behind you.
What is the difference between the Device Only and Sensor Bundle?
The Device Only variant includes the Rider 650 computer and mount. The Sensor Bundle adds a Smart Speed Sensor, Cadence Sensor, and Heart Rate Monitor — everything you need to track speed, cadence, and heart rate from the first ride. If you already have compatible ANT+ or Bluetooth sensors, the Device Only is the more economical choice.
