The Crank Brothers Mallet E Clipless Pedal is engineered for riders who demand the perfect blend of performance and reliability in enduro racing and trail riding. Developed in collaboration with top enduro athletes, this pedal is 12% smaller than the Mallet DH but retains many of its popular features, offering a responsive and secure connection between rider and bike. Available in two axle lengths—52mm and 57mm—the Mallet E caters to different riding preferences, whether you favor a standard Q factor or need extra crankarm clearance.
Designed with a concave pedal platform, the Mallet E provides a stable foothold that mimics the flat pedal feel while maintaining the benefits of clipless technology. Its ribbed body enhances traction when unclipped, and chamfered edges reduce the risk of rock strikes, making it ideal for the unpredictable terrain of enduro trails. The pedal’s open design excels at shedding mud, ensuring consistent performance in all conditions.
Featuring a 4-sided entry system, the Mallet E allows riders to clip in from any direction, streamlining engagement and disengagement. With 6° of float, it offers enhanced foot freedom for better control and comfort during long rides. The versatile cleat adjustment options (15° or 20° release angles) and integrated traction pads let you customize your fit for optimal performance. Built with premium materials including 6061-T6 aluminium body, forged chromoly steel spindle, and high-quality bearings, this pedal is durable, serviceable, and backed by a 5-year warranty.
What are the differences between the 52mm and 57mm axle versions?
The 52mm axle provides a Q factor similar to other pedals and is ideal for riders seeking a standard fit. The 57mm axle offers a wider Q factor, which benefits those needing more crankarm/pedal clearance or who prefer a wider stance.
Can I adjust the float on these pedals?
Yes, the Mallet E pedals offer 6° of float, enabling side-to-side rotational play for improved foot comfort and bike handling. Additionally, you can adjust the cleat release angle to 15° or 20°, or purchase zero-float cleats separately.
Are the pedals suitable for muddy trail conditions?
Absolutely. The pedal features an open design that excels at shedding mud, keeping the pedal surface clean and maintaining secure engagement even in wet, muddy environments.
How easy is maintenance on the Mallet E pedals?
Crank Brothers pedals are fully rebuildable with consistent parts across models, making maintenance straightforward. You can use the pedal refresh kit (CRB-16051) for servicing to keep your pedals performing at their best.
