The Garmin Varia Vue is Garmin's most advanced front cycling accessory — a 4K front-facing cycling camera with an integrated smart headlight in a single handlebar-mounted unit. It's designed for road and gravel cyclists who want high-quality ride footage, automatic incident recording, and a powerful front light, all controlled seamlessly from a paired Garmin Edge computer or the Varia app. A microSD card (up to 512GB, sold separately) is required for video recording.
The camera records in 4Kp30, 1440p30, 1080p60, and 1080p30 with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for smooth, steady footage even on rough road surfaces. GPS speed and location data is embedded directly into the video, giving you a complete record of where you were and how fast you were going at every moment — invaluable for incident documentation or simply reviewing your rides. Like the Varia RCT715 at the rear, the Vue automatically locks footage when an impact is detected via the built-in accelerometer, ensuring critical moments are always preserved. Vault video storage is also supported for cloud backup.
The integrated headlight delivers visibility up to 1.6km with multiple modes — high, medium, low, night flash, and day flash — and automatically adjusts brightness based on ambient light and speed when paired with a compatible Garmin Edge. Battery life ranges from 1.25 hours at 4K on high through to 7 hours at 1080p in day flash mode, and up to 9 hours camera-only at 1080p30. The unit carries an IPX7 water rating. Note: a microSD card (minimum 8GB, Class 10 or faster, up to 512GB) is required for video recording and is sold separately. The Varia Vue functions as a smart headlight without a card inserted, but recording requires storage media.
Does the Varia Vue come with a microSD card?
No — a microSD card is sold separately. The device requires a minimum 8GB, Class 10 card and supports cards up to 512GB. Without a card inserted, the Varia Vue functions as a smart headlight but cannot record video.
What are the battery life figures for different recording modes?
Battery life varies by resolution and light mode: 4Kp30 gives approximately 1.25 hours on high brightness and up to 5 hours in day flash mode. 1080p30 gives approximately 1.5 hours on high and up to 7 hours in day flash. Camera-only (no light) at 1080p30 extends to approximately 9 hours. Day flash mode is the most efficient for long rides.
How does the incident recording work?
The Varia Vue continuously records while riding. If the built-in accelerometer detects a sudden impact, it automatically locks the footage from before and after the incident so it cannot be overwritten. This happens without any input from you — the same system used in the Varia RCT715 at the rear.
Which Garmin Edge computers is it compatible with?
The Varia Vue is compatible with a wide range of Garmin Edge computers including the Edge 540, Edge 840, Edge 850, Edge 1040, and Edge 1050, as well as selected Garmin smartwatches and the Varia smartphone app.

In some cases, we may ship items out with another courier, depending on the status and availability of items ordered. (Customers will not be charged more and will be refunded any unused postage cost) If part of an order is cancelled and the total drops below the £50.00 free postage, a postage charge may be taken.
Delivery costs will be clearly stated on the checkout page, though you will need to register (to provide your delivery address) in order to see the delivery costs.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
