The Hope M4 Clipless Pedal Pins are replacement grip pins for the Hope F20 and F22 clipless pedals — the steel pins that thread into the pedal body around the cleat engagement zone to provide additional foot grip and platform feel when the foot is clipped in. Pins wear down or get damaged over time, particularly with regular use on rough terrain, and replacing them restores the pedal's grip performance to as-new condition. Sold individually allowing you to replace only the pins that are worn or missing rather than buying a full set unnecessarily. M4 thread. Made in the UK by Hope in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.
Installation requires a 2mm hex key — unscrew the worn pin, thread in the replacement, and tighten to snug. Hope recommends applying a small amount of thread lock to prevent pins working loose under vibration, particularly for MTB use. The pins are compatible with the Hope F20 and F22 clipless pedal models. For flat pedal pin replacements, see the Hope flat pedal pin range. Browse the full pedals collection or spares and accessories for more Hope pedal components.
How many pins does each Hope clipless pedal have?
The Hope F20 and F22 clipless pedals have multiple pins per pedal body arranged around the cleat engagement zone. Check your pedal to count how many pins need replacing before ordering — since they're sold individually, order the exact quantity needed.
What tool do I need to replace the pins?
A 2mm hex key (Allen key) is required to unscrew and install the pins. Apply a small amount of thread lock (such as Loctite 243) to the threads before installing to prevent the pins working loose under vibration, particularly for MTB use.
Are these the same pins used on Hope flat pedals?
No — Hope flat pedal pins use a different thread size and design. These M4 pins are specific to the Hope F20 and F22 clipless pedal models. For flat pedal pin replacements, see the Hope flat pedal spares range.
How do I know when pins need replacing?
Replace pins when they are visibly worn down (reduced height), bent, or missing. Worn pins reduce the grip and platform feel of the pedal, which can affect confidence and control, particularly in technical terrain. Regular inspection as part of pedal maintenance will catch worn pins before they become a problem.
