The lightest Crossmax ever built, developed hand in hand with Mavic's Cross-Country World Cup athletes to deliver explosive acceleration, precise handling and podium-proven performance. At just 1080g a pair, it's engineered for racers who need every gram and every watt working in their favour.
Every part of this wheelset has been rebuilt from the ground up in pursuit of pure XC speed. The Adaptive Layup carbon rim construction cuts weight without giving up the stiffness and strength that racing demands, while carbon spokes paired with titanium nipples shave a further 100g from the build. An ultralight hub, just 180g, runs on Mavic Ceramic bearings to keep friction to a minimum, so power goes straight into forward motion rather than getting lost along the way.
Responsiveness is where the Crossmax Ultimate really sets itself apart. Mavic's proven 40-tooth ID360 LIGHT ratchet freewheel gives near-instant engagement the moment pressure hits the pedals, making every acceleration and every technical climb feel sharper. It's a wheelset already proven at the top level, with podium finishes and top-10 results across the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup season with the KTM and Mondraker factory teams.

What's in the box?
Understanding the different Mavic freehub body acronyms:
Specific Mavic Adaptive Layup
Mavic's Adaptive Layup technology optimises every carbon fibre layer to achieve the ideal balance of low weight, lateral stiffness and vibration absorption. The result is a rim that delivers precise handling, dynamic responsiveness and race-proven efficiency.
Carbon spokes
Carbon spokes and titanium nipples dramatically reduce rotational mass while delivering exceptional stiffness. The spoke pattern, 20 crossed 2 per wheel, offers the right amount of compliance to remain in control in technical sections until the last lap. The result is precise power transfer, sharper handling and the ultimate stiffness-to-weight ratio for pure XC performance.
Mavic Ceramic bearings
Each component is validated on in-house machines capable of 57 different tests before a second round confirms the performance of the fully assembled wheel. Every detail of the hub has been redesigned for marginal gains: 40-tooth ratchets, optimised freewheeling spring, Mavic ceramic bearings, a more aerodynamic hub shell, lighter hub bodies and Locked-In Spoke Heads to stabilise spoke tension over time.
