The Maxxis Dissector G2 29 X 2.4 is a masterclass in mountain bike tyre innovation, engineered to elevate your trail experience with superior grip and control. Featuring a redesigned side knob layout with a larger footprint and refined sipes, this tyre offers exceptional stability and predictability when cornering on hard terrain. Its enhanced shape resists deflection under load, which means improved durability and a more confident ride. Quick side knob engagement gives you a planted feel in turns, making technical descents and sharp bends more manageable.
The centre tread maintains the trusted 2-3-2 pattern but innovates with individual knobs in the centre 3, enhancing braking traction and terrain conformity. Transition knobs pushed outward ensure smooth and consistent leaning, while updated sipes across the tread boost grip and longevity. This makes the Dissector G2 a versatile choice for riders looking for a reliable front tyre on short to mid-travel trail bikes, especially between 130mm and 140mm of travel. When paired with a fast-rolling rear tyre like the Maxxis Forekaster or Rekon, it balances speed and control. For longer travel bikes (150mm+), it excels as a fast, confident rear tyre in dry conditions.
Equipped with the advanced 3C MaxxGrip compound, the tyre delivers unmatched traction thanks to its softest rubber layers and slow rebound properties, ideal for demanding downhill rides. The DoubleDown casing offers dual-ply protection reinforced with butyl, combining the toughness of a downhill tyre with a lighter weight for enduro racing. Designed with a Wide Trail profile, the tyre is optimised for modern wider rims (30-35mm inner width), ensuring a perfect tyre shape and maximising performance on contemporary mountain bikes. Additionally, the tubeless-ready design lets you run lower air pressures for better traction and reduces rolling resistance, while minimizing flat tyre risks.
Is the Maxxis Dissector G2 suitable for tubeless setup?
Yes, this tyre is tubeless ready, allowing you to run lower air pressures for improved traction and reduced risk of flats. Be sure to use appropriate liquid sealants meant for tubeless tyre systems.
What bike travel is this tyre best suited for?
The Dissector G2 excels as a front tyre on bikes with 130-140mm of travel and works well as a fast, confident rear tyre on longer travel bikes with 150mm or more.
How does the 3C MaxxGrip compound benefit performance?
The 3C MaxxGrip compound uses the softest rubber layers, offering exceptional grip and slow rebound properties that enhance traction and control, especially in demanding downhill and enduro conditions.
Will this tyre fit on my rim?
This tyre is optimised for rims with 30-35mm inner width due to its Wide Trail construction. Using it on narrower rims may alter the tyre profile and affect performance.
