The Maxxis Dissector G2 is a thoroughly evolved trail tyre built for riders who demand confidence on hard-pack, loose-over-hard, and dry terrain. The second-generation design brings a completely reworked side knob with a larger footprint and revised sipes — delivering sharper cornering engagement, better load resistance, and improved durability over the original. Whether you're threading tight berms or committing to fast, open corners, the Dissector G2 gives you the planted, predictable feel to push harder.
The centre tread retains the proven 2-3-2 layout, but the centre three knobs have been split into individual units for stronger braking traction and better terrain conformity. Transition knobs have been repositioned further outward, creating a smoother lean-in feel as the tyre rolls from centre to edge. Combined with 3C MaxxTerra compound — Maxxis's intermediate-grip formulation that balances traction, rolling efficiency, and longevity — the Dissector G2 is a tyre that performs across a wide range of trail conditions without compromise.
Protected by EXO construction, which layers SilkShield bead-to-bead with EXO sidewall reinforcement, this tyre improves tread puncture protection by 27%, sidewall durability by 51%, and pinch flat resistance by 28%. It's available in a Tubeless Ready configuration, letting you run lower pressures for more traction and a more forgiving ride. Available in 29 x 2.4" sizing — choose your preferred variant above. Pair it with a Maxxis Forekaster or Rekon at the rear for a fast, well-balanced trail setup.
Specification:
Compound: 3C MaxxTerra | Breaker: EXO | TPI: 120 | Bead: Folding | Max PSI: 40 | Tubeless Ready | Best for: Dry, Hard, Loose/Hard, Medium | Cornering Control: 3/4 | Rolling Efficiency: 3/4
Is the Maxxis Dissector G2 tubeless compatible?
Yes — it is a Tubeless Ready tyre, meaning it is designed to be run without an inner tube using a compatible tubeless rim and valve, along with a liquid sealant. Running tubeless allows lower pressures for better traction and reduces the risk of punctures.
What is 3C MaxxTerra compound?
3C MaxxTerra is Maxxis's intermediate compound, sitting between the faster-rolling MaxxSpeed and the grippier MaxxGrip. It offers a strong balance of traction, tread life, and rolling resistance — making it well suited to trail riding across varied conditions.
What does EXO protection mean?
EXO is Maxxis's puncture and cut protection system. On this tyre, it combines a SilkShield layer running bead-to-bead with an EXO reinforced sidewall, improving tread puncture resistance by 27%, sidewall durability by 51%, and pinch flat resistance by 28% compared to a standard casing.
Which size should I choose?
The Dissector G2 is available in 29 x 2.4" sizing. Select your preferred option from the variant selector above. If you're unsure which size suits your frame and rim width, feel free to contact our team at Swinnerton Cycles for advice.
