The Maxxis High Roller 3 29x2.40 with 120x2 TPI and 3C MaxxGrip DoubleDown Folding Tubeless Tyre stands at the forefront of mountain bike tyre innovation. Positioned perfectly between the aggressive Assegai and the nimble Shorty within Maxxis’s gravity range, this tyre delivers a unique hybrid tread design. It expertly balances an open center tread pattern with robust, well-supported side knobs, engineered to handle extreme cornering forces with confidence and precision.
Designed specifically for the demands of modern downhill riding, the High Roller 3 excels in a variety of conditions. Its tread pattern combines the soil penetration capabilities of a wet weather mid-spike with the control and traction of a dry surface tyre, offering versatility and reliability whether you’re navigating loose dirt, wet trails, or hardpack. This tyre has already proven its mettle in competitive racing, securing a victory at Mont Sainte Anne with Jackson Goldstone.
Equipped with the advanced 3C MaxxGrip compound, the High Roller 3 provides exceptional grip and slow rebound characteristics that maximize traction during high-speed descents. The DoubleDown casing adds extra protection and support by incorporating two layers of 120 TPI casing reinforced with a butyl insert, giving riders the durability of a downhill tyre in a lighter package. Plus, the Tubeless Ready design allows for lower air pressures, enhanced traction, and reduced rolling resistance, making this tyre a perfect match for modern trail demands.
Is the Maxxis High Roller 3 suitable for all trail conditions?
Yes, the High Roller 3 is engineered to perform exceptionally well across a variety of conditions including loose, hard, medium, and wet terrains. Its hybrid tread design ensures reliable traction and control whether the trail is dry or muddy.
Can I run this tyre tubeless?
Absolutely. The High Roller 3 is tubeless ready, allowing you to run lower air pressures for enhanced traction and reduced rolling resistance. This setup also minimizes the risk of punctures compared to traditional tube tyres.
What is the benefit of the DoubleDown casing?
DoubleDown casing features two 120 TPI layers reinforced with a butyl insert, offering the strength and protection of a downhill tyre but in a lighter and more flexible package. This makes it ideal for aggressive riding where durability and support are critical.
Does the tyre fit all rim sizes?
The tyre is optimized for wider rims with an inner width from 30 to 35mm, thanks to Wide Trail technology. Using it on narrower rims may affect the tyre’s profile and performance negatively.
