The original L1 Jersey fabric was a polyester microfilament (Unique Fabric L1) that immediately stood out for its slightly thicker and softer hand which, while in no way comprising breathability, was able to pull moisture away from the body far more efficiently than the paper-thin fabrics use in other true lightweight jerseys currently availble on the market, allowing the jersey to offer significantly greater protection to the body while riding long descents immediately after intense climbing. The introduction of a real silver thread into the weft of the fabric, forming a subtly visible €œpinstriping €_x009d_ down the length of the jersey, may be understood as a further augmenting of the original raison d €™etre of Q36.5 €™s proprietary jersey fabric, in which the extraordinary natural properties of silver are carefully exploited in a performance wear context. In this case the silver thread €™s greatest performance advantage is given not by its anti-bacterial or anti-static (as is the case, for example, in our Dottore bib shorts) qualities but by its high rate of conduction
(silver, of all the elements on earth, has the highest rate of heat conduction). This means that Silver works actively to distribute the heat quickly and uniformly across its surface: one needs only to think of the example of the silver spoon in a cup of tea: the heat of the liquid is not transferred just to the part of the spoon in contact with the hot liquid but uniformly across its surface. Similarly, the addition of the silver thread in the weft of the jersey €™s fabric allows the body €™s heat to be evenly dispersed across the entire surface of the jersey, minimizing isolated points of excessive body heat and facilitating a far more efficient subsequent transfer of the humidity away from the body. In fact in a humid environment the conductive properties of Silver increase the rate of moisture evaporation compared to the other hydrophobic materials, consequently leaving the body drier and healthier. Please note that while perhaps only an extremely sensitive rider will be able to €œfeel the difference €_x009d_ of the introduction of this silver into the L1 jersey, this subtly visible thread is an authentic symbol of Q36.5 €™s dedication to present extreme vision of future of cycling clothing.
The L1 jersey €™s construction €“ which remains the same - is itself a piece of advanced sartorial engineering, employing a new jersey pattern and kimono-esque sleeve design which minimizes the use of seams (none frontal facing for increased aerodynamics) and an ergonomic €˜pre-shaped €™ fit (note the way the jersey €˜falls €™ into a riding position even when unworn, on a hanger), which is snug without being constrictive, thanks to the fabric €™s elasticity. The minimal look of the jersey is accentuated by the entirely new proprietary invisible pocket system, which replaces the traditional 3-pocket patch found on all other jerseys currently available on the market.
