The Race Face Chester Pedals represent the evolution of a classic favorite, combining durability, comfort, and style into a high-quality composite pedal that suits riders of all levels. Known for their affordability without compromising on performance, these pedals have long been a trusted choice for bike shop employees and cycling enthusiasts alike. Now refreshed with thoughtful updates, the Chester pedals deliver an enhanced ride feel, improved grip, and more size options to accommodate every rider’s unique preferences.
Designed with direct rider feedback in mind, the new Chester pedals address previous concerns such as an overly convex platform and limited grip by introducing a more concave pedal shape and additional pins. Available in two sizes—Small (105 x 100mm) and Large (115 x 110mm)—these pedals ensure better shoe-to-pedal contact, enhancing both control and comfort on the trail. The thoughtful redesign also lowers the Q-factor for improved ergonomics, allowing your feet to sit closer to the cranks and promoting a more natural pedaling motion.
Built to last, the Chester pedals feature a glass-filled nylon body with in-mold graphics, a black spindle with an 8mm hex interface for easy installation, and fully serviceable internals. With 11 pins per side strategically placed for consistent grip and threadless metal tips that reduce skin damage, these pedals offer superior performance without sacrificing rider comfort. Plus, with eight vibrant color options and a Race Face Lifetime Warranty—including crash coverage—you can confidently ride knowing your pedals are backed by a brand committed to quality and reliability.
Are the Chester pedals compatible with all mountain bike shoes?
Yes, the Chester pedals are designed to work well with most mountain bike shoes, especially considering their two platform size options that accommodate various shoe sizes for better contact and grip.
Can I replace the pins if they wear out or get damaged?
Absolutely. The Chester pedals feature fully serviceable internals, and the pins can be easily removed and replaced to maintain optimal grip over time.
What does the reduced Q-factor mean for my riding experience?
Reducing the Q-factor brings your feet closer to the crank arms, which can improve pedaling ergonomics, reduce fatigue, and promote a more natural and efficient pedaling motion.
Are these pedals suitable for downhill or aggressive trail riding?
While the Chester pedals are durable and offer excellent grip, they are best suited for general mountain biking and flat pedal enthusiasts rather than extreme downhill riding where specialized pedal designs might be preferred.
