The Trek Madone SLR 9 AXS Gen 8 is Trek's flagship aero road racing bike — the top-specification complete build on the Gen 8 Madone platform. The frame is 900 Series OCLV Carbon, Trek's highest-grade carbon fibre construction, shaped around the Gen 8's defining feature: IsoFlow. IsoFlow is an opening in the seat tube that allows the seatstays to flex independently of the main frame structure, providing vertical compliance and vibration damping without the weight or complexity of a separate suspension system. The result is a bike that is simultaneously more aerodynamic than its predecessor (the IsoFlow opening reduces drag by allowing air to pass through the frame) and more comfortable over long distances and rough road surfaces. The frame is manufactured in Germany.
The complete build is centred on SRAM RED eTap AXS — SRAM's top-tier wireless electronic groupset with hydraulic disc brakes, providing precise, effortless shifting and powerful braking. The cockpit is the Trek Aero RSL one-piece carbon bar and stem, fully integrated to eliminate external cable routing and reduce aerodynamic drag. Wheels are carbon, matched to the frame's aero profile. The Interstellar colour option is a premium finish at a higher price point; the remaining four colours — Matte/Gloss Carbon Smoke, Navy Smoke, Carbon Red Smoke, and Era White — are standard pricing. Available in six sizes: XS, S, M, ML, L, and XL. For the 1x drivetrain variant, see the Trek Madone SLR 9 AXS Gen 8 1x. For a custom build, see the Trek Madone SLR Gen 8 Frameset. What is IsoFlow and how does it work?
IsoFlow is an opening in the seat tube of the Madone Gen 8 frame that serves two purposes simultaneously. Aerodynamically, it allows air to pass through the frame rather than around it, reducing drag. Mechanically, it allows the seatstays to flex independently of the main frame structure, providing vertical compliance and vibration damping at the rear of the bike. Previous generations of the Madone used a separate IsoSpeed decoupler to achieve compliance; IsoFlow integrates both functions into the frame structure itself, saving weight and complexity.
What is the difference between this bike and the Madone SLR 9 AXS Gen 8 1x?
This listing is the standard 2x (double chainring) SRAM RED eTap AXS build with a front derailleur and two chainrings, providing a wider gear range suited to varied terrain and racing. The 1x variant uses a single chainring without a front derailleur, reducing weight and mechanical complexity at the cost of overall gear range. The 1x setup is preferred by some riders for criterium racing or flat courses; the 2x is more versatile for mixed terrain and longer events.
What does the Interstellar colour option include?
The Interstellar finish is a premium colour option on the Madone SLR 9 Gen 8, priced higher than the standard colour options. It features a distinctive finish that differs from the standard Smoke and Era White colourways. If you're considering the Interstellar option, contact us to confirm current availability and lead times.
Can I get a custom build using the Madone SLR frame?
Yes — the Trek Madone SLR Gen 8 Frameset is available separately, allowing you to specify your own groupset, wheels, and components. Contact us to discuss a custom build.
