The Vittoria Standard RVC is a reliable butyl rubber inner tube for 700c wheels, available in three tyre width ranges and two Presta valve lengths to cover the most common road, gravel, and hybrid bike setups. The 0.9mm butyl wall provides a practical balance of puncture resistance and air retention for everyday riding — thicker than ultralight latex or TPU tubes, but more durable and easier to live with for commuting, training, and general use. The RVC (Removable Valve Core) allows the valve core to be unscrewed for easier sealant injection if converting to tubeless or for use with certain track pumps and inflators.
Available in three size variants — 700 x 20–28c, 700 x 28–42c, and 700 x 40–52c — and three valve options: PV 48 RVC (48mm Presta, removable core), PV 60 RVC (60mm Presta, removable core, for deep-section rims), and PV 80 (80mm Presta, for very deep-section or aero rims). Select the size that matches your tyre width and the valve length that suits your rim depth — as a guide, standard rims need 48mm, mid-depth rims (30–50mm) typically need 60mm, and deep-section rims (50mm+) need 80mm. Browse our full wheels and tyres collection for tyres, tubeless valves, and accessories.
Which size should I choose?
Match the tube size to your tyre width: 700 x 20–28c for narrow road tyres, 700 x 28–42c for wider road and light gravel tyres, and 700 x 40–52c for gravel, hybrid, and wider tyres. If your tyre width falls within two ranges, either will work — a slightly larger tube is generally preferable to a slightly smaller one as it will be under less stretch.
Which valve length do I need?
The valve needs to protrude enough above the rim to attach a pump head. For standard rims (under 30mm deep), 48mm is sufficient. For mid-depth rims (30–50mm), choose 60mm. For deep-section aero rims (50mm+), choose 80mm. If in doubt, go longer — a valve that's too short cannot be inflated, while a longer valve simply has more exposed stem.
What does RVC mean?
RVC stands for Removable Valve Core — the central pin inside the Presta valve can be unscrewed using a valve core tool. This is useful for injecting tubeless sealant into a clincher tyre, for use with certain CO₂ inflators that require a removable core, and for deflating the tube quickly. The PV 80 variant does not have RVC.
Is butyl better than latex or TPU?
Each material has trade-offs. Butyl is the most durable, easiest to repair, and holds air pressure well between rides — making it the practical choice for commuting, training, and everyday use. Latex is lighter and more supple (lower rolling resistance) but loses air overnight and is more fragile. TPU is the lightest option but expensive and harder to repair roadside. For most riders, butyl is the right choice for everyday use.
