The COROS APEX 4 is the premium outdoor GPS watch in the COROS range — positioned above the PACE Pro and NOMAD with a Grade 5 Titanium bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire glass, and the longest GPS battery life in the COROS lineup. Available in 42mm and 46mm case sizes, in Black and White, it's built for serious mountain athletes, alpinists, and endurance adventurers who need a watch that can handle the most demanding environments without compromise. The 46mm delivers up to 65 hours of GPS battery life; the 42mm up to 41 hours.
The 3rd-generation Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display offers sharp contrast and deep colours with excellent readability in all lighting conditions — bright alpine sun, snow glare, and deep shadow — without the battery drain of an AMOLED screen, which is why the APEX 4 can achieve its exceptional battery life. Dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) combined with vertical tracking algorithms designed specifically for alpine terrain delivers industry-leading accuracy for pace, elevation, and route tracking on steep, complex mountain routes where standard GPS struggles. The built-in microphone and speaker enable voice pins, pace alerts, and hands-free calls — a practical feature for solo mountain use. The Adventure Journal captures voice notes, photos, and terrain details during activities, syncing to the COROS app for post-expedition review.
Real-time global topo maps with turn-by-turn navigation, street and trail names, and points of interest are built in. Training and recovery tools include HRV, sleep monitoring, SpO2, and training load tracking. The APEX 4 is compatible with the COROS POD 2 running sensor for enhanced pace and running form data. For athletes who want a lighter, more training-focused watch without the titanium and sapphire construction, the PACE Pro is the more appropriate choice. What is the difference between the 42mm and 46mm versions?
The key differences are case size and battery life. The 46mm provides up to 65 hours of GPS battery life; the 42mm provides up to 41 hours. The 46mm is better suited to very long expeditions and ultra-distance events; the 42mm suits smaller wrists or those who prefer a more compact watch. Both share identical features, materials, and specifications.
What is the difference between the APEX 4 and the PACE Pro?
The PACE Pro is lighter (37g), uses an AMOLED display, and is optimised for running and multisport training. The APEX 4 uses a Grade 5 Titanium bezel, sapphire glass, and a MIP display optimised for outdoor readability and battery life, with significantly longer GPS endurance (65hr vs 38hr on the 46mm). Choose the PACE Pro for training; choose the APEX 4 for mountain and expedition use.
What is a Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display and why does it matter?
MIP displays are always-on, low-power screens that remain readable in direct sunlight and bright snow without backlighting. Unlike AMOLED screens, they don't require significant power to display data, which is why the APEX 4 can achieve 65 hours of GPS battery life. The trade-off is that MIP displays are less vibrant than AMOLED in low-light conditions, but for outdoor use in daylight, they are often more practical.
Can I use it with the COROS POD 2 running sensor?
Yes — the APEX 4 is compatible with the COROS POD 2, which adds instant lag-free pace data, accurate treadmill tracking, Effort Pace, and advanced running form metrics including Ground Time, L/R Balance, Stride Height, and Stride Ratio.
